A Warm good morning to all ofyou.It is with great pleasure that I am standing before you.First let me thank almighty for giving me a chance to own the scolarship jacket.It was my passion,my dream to win it.I would like to thank the principal, and all the teachers who considered me worty of it. This jacket is the symbol of eight years of hard work and expectation.Now I  can proudly call myself a winner .I express my sincere thanks to my grandfather who taught me the great truth that an award is not purchased,but earned.

Let me conclude my speech with a heartfelt bouquet of thanks to our principal for his timely intervention in presenting the jacket to me.Once again thank you all.

Martha is the protagonist of the story ' The Scholarship Jacket'.This story tells about the hardships and challenges she endured to own the much coveted scholarship jacket in her school days.The Texas school had maintained a tradition of awarding a beautiful gold and green jacket with a big gold "S"on the left front side and the name of the winner on the pocket,to the valedictorian.Martha was a studious,brillent and the most deserving girl wo had record of performing high excellence in her academics since her first grade.she had been straight " A" Student.

It was her dream to be honored with the scholarship jacket.Martha's sister once a recipient of the same.she was born to a farm labourer who couldn't enough to rear his chidren.Martha then stayed with old granded.Martha looked slim,pencil thin and was called as beanpole and string bean.Martha was equally talented in athletics as well. but ,since everything was determined through regiistration formalities she couldn't even dream of getting honored in anyway other than her scholastic achievements.she was a well disciplined,God fearing ,sincere and truthful student who always looked forward to get acknowledged of her integrity.she was honest beyond words and stood for what she really was.Even though she was dying to get the scholarship jacket,she spoke to her principal,as directed by her agenda.she wanted to fight injustice.she knoew that racism existed in full fledge even in her school.But she wasn't ready to give up her honour for the jacket.she is the blend of what a real girl should possess caring,affectionate,respectful and self reliant.
