NATIONAL DOCTOR'S DAY

                       People of India celebrates July 1st as ' National Doctor's Day' commemorating the Iconic and Internationally renowned medical practitioner,Dr.Bidhan Chandra Roy,who served as a Physician,freedom fighter,politician,social worker and educationist.B.C.Roy was born on 1 july 1882 in Panta and died on the same date(July1) in 1962 in then Calcutta after treating some patients in morning hours.He passed the Entrance Examination from the Patna Collegiate School in 1897,and First Arts Examination from Patna College in 1899.He passed the Bachelor of Arts Examination with Honours in Maths in 1901 after which he joined the Calcutta Medical college.His medical career as a physician began after his post-graduation in 1911.Dr.B.C.Roy later joined the calcutta Medical College as a faculty member.He was admitted to the St.Bartholmew's Institution in London in 1909 and within about two years he had the distinction of Passing both  the M.R.C.P(London) and F.R.C.S(England) being placed first and former.

                           

               After independence of India,B.C.Roy became Governor Uttar Pradesh and a year later ,in 1948,the second chief minister of West Bengal .The occation commemorates the spirit of doctors across the globe who work day and night consistently to ensure well-being of patients.He was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1961.July 1 thus being observed as Doctor's Day as a tribute to B.C.Roy's contribution to the health Sector.  .The first National Doctors Day was celebrated by the Indian Medical Association(IMA) on July 1,1991.

             Dr.B.C.Roy was one of the most prominent leaders of the 20th century India .Dr.B.C.Roy was a good Philanthropist and was also Mahatma Gandhi's Physician.he gave his life to the people,treate countless individuals,and inspired millions.Dr.B.C.Roy was passed away in 1962 .After his passing,his house was gifted to the public for running a nursing home. National Award was instituted in his memory for work in the areas of medicine,politics,science,philosophy,literature and arts.Doctors are the backbone of the country's healthcare system. Doctors who follow medical ethics strictly play a crucial role in Our Society.Their contribution in ensuring wellness for humanity is unparalleled and any amount of gratitude with fall short for the services they render,often neglecting their own health an d families.They devote their lives to treating and helping patients with a speedy recovery from illness or any other health conditions.
