 *GRAM SABHA

=Gram Sabha is a meeting where adult people directly participated and seek answers from their elected representative.

*PANCHAYAT PRESIDENT

=Panchayat President is the sarpanch,elected by the representatives of the panchayat.

*PANCH

=Panch are the members of the panchayat.sometimes a member is also elected to preside over the panchayat for taking decision in a certain matter.

*BPL(Below Poverty Level)

=The Monthly Income of the people which does not provide two meals a day is called below povrty line.

*GRAM PANCHAYATS

=Gram Panchayats are bodies of elected representative at village level.

*JANPAD PANCHAYAT

=Panchayat consisting of several Gram Panchayats at block level is called Janpad Panchayat.

*ZILA PARISHAD

=Panchayat at district level is termed as Zila Parishad

=Sarpanch is the Panchayat presidet.He is elected by the members of Gram Sabha.

*What is Panchayati Raj System?

It is a process through which people participate in governance at local levels.It is a three tier system

=Village Level-Panchayats

=Block Level-Janpad Panchayat or Panchayat Samiti

=District Level-Zila Parishad

Nirmal Gram Puruskar is awarded for excellent work done by a village Panchayat.

*What are functions of Zila Parishad?

=Developmental plans and works at district level

=Regulates the money distribution at Samiti and Panchayat level

*Describe the composition of the Gram Panchayat?

=Every village panchayat is divided into wards,i.e smaller areas

=Each ward elects a representative who is known as the ward member(Panch)

=All members of the Gram Sabha also elect a Sarpanch who is the panchayat president.

=The ward panchs and the sarpanch form Gram panchayat

=The Gram Panchyat is elected for five years.

=The Gram Panchayat has a secretary who is also the secretary of the Gram Sabha.

-This person is not an elected person but is appointed by the government.

-He is responsible for calling the meeting of the Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat.

-He also keeps record of the proceeding.
