International Plastic Bag Free Day is observed on July 3 every year to motivate people to avoid using single-use plastic to wipe out Plastic pollution.International Plastic Bag Free Day was created by Bag Free World.Bag Free World was created as a world wide initiative for the purpose of getting rid of the single-use of plastic bags around the world.In 2008,Zero waste Europe launched a campaign against single-use Plastic bags on which was on 3 July.In 2005,the European Union also passed certain directives to reduce the usage of Single-use Plastic bags . Following this,Many countries banned 🚫 Plastic bags.Today this day is a global event observed by a large number of countries across the world.The day also encourages the public to change their behaviour against the use of plastic bags in a bid to achieve a healthier environment.Plastics are a major source of pollution, causing harm to wildlife, marine life and contributing to the destruction of our ecosystem.They take hundred years of decompose Plastic bags,made up from fossil fuels,are vital source of greenhouse emissions.Some of the sustainable alternatives for plastic bags are mesh bags, Paper bags and reusable cotton bags.
