FUNCTIONS AND POWERS OF PRESIDENT OF INDIA

 The President of India is the head of the state and is also called the first citizen of India

*All type of Emergencies are declared by the President of India

*Every Bill Passed by the Parliament will become an Act only after getting the assent from the President

*The President  has the power to dissolve Lok Sabha  

*Joint Sessions of the Parliament is Summoned by the President

*If the Parliament is not in session,the President can issue Ordinance.

*Budget is presented in the Parliament in the name of the President.

*The President can declare war only after getting the advice from the Parliament.

*Prior sanction should be obtained from the President before presenting a Bill for the creation of a State.
