നവതിയുടെ നിറവിൽ എം.ടി

 മലയാള സാഹിത്യരംഗത്തിനു നിസ്തുല സംഭാവനകൾ നൽകിയ എം.ടി.വാസുദേവൻ നായർ  ജനിച്ചത് 1933 ജൂലൈ 15-നു പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിലെ കൂടല്ലൂരാണ്. പാലക്കാട് വിക്ടോറിയ കോളേജിൽ നിന്നും ഗണിതശാസ്ത്രത്തിൽ ബിരുദം നേടിയ എം.ടി ഒരു വർഷത്തോളം അധ്യാപകനായി സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു.പത്രാധിപർ, സംവിധായകൻ, തിരക്കഥാകൃത്ത് തുടങ്ങിയ മേഖലകളിലും അദ്ദേഹം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.54-ലോളം സിനിമകൾക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം തിരക്കഥ രചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.ഹൃദയ സ്പർശിയായ ഒരു രചനാശൈലി കൊണ്ട് വായനക്കാരുടെ മനസ്സിൽ ഇടംനേടിയ എം.ടിയുടെ ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ കൃതികളാണ് നാലുകെട്ട്, രണ്ടാമൂഴം,കാലം, അസുരവിത്ത് തുടങ്ങിയവ.കേന്ദ്ര സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി അവാർഡ്, വയലാർ അവാർഡ്, ജ്ഞാനപീഠം,ജെ.സി.ഡാനിയൽ അവാർഡ്, തുടങ്ങിയ നിരവധി അവാർഡുകൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.2005-ൽ പത്മഭൂഷനും ലഭിച്ചു.

'The SANGAMS were the gatherings of intellectuals and scholars held under under the rule of the pandyas in the far South'.

According to Arrayanara Agapporul,8,598 poets participated in these SANGAMS and these were provided protection by 197 pandya rulers.In all three Sangams were held of  scholars of that age.

It is believed that Sangam literature developed between 100 to 250 A.D.The Sangam literature is mostly in the form of poetry.Certain Poems have their commentaries as well.The Sangam literature provides us useful information concerning the ancient history and culture of the far south.

Sangam Literature includes Tolkappiyam,Ettutogai,Pattupattu,Pathinenkilkabakku,and two epics named Silappathikaram and Manimegalai.
